Antoni Segura re-elected president of CIDOB

In a plenary session the CIDOB Board unanimously re-elected the historian Antoni Segura i Mas as President of the institution for a further four-year term. During the meeting, which took place yesterday via video conference, the organisation’s budget and activity programme for 2021 were also approved. A renewal of the CIDOB Board was also agreed and new individual members were proposed. Mercè Conesa, President of the Port of Barcelona, Antón Costas, President of the Cercle d'Economia Foundation, Jacint Jordana, Director of the IBEI, Anna Terrón, Director of the FIIAPP and Joan Manuel Tresserras, President of the Fundació Josep Irla, will join the CIDOB Board in June 2021.

The plenary session of the CIDOB Board unanimously re-elected the historian Antoni Segura i Mas as President of the institution for a second four-year term, in accordance with Article 18 of the foundation’s Statutes. Following his re-election, the President thanked all the members of the Board, both institutional and individual, for placing their trust in him and said that he would “seek to repay this trust by helping CIDOB remain a leading centre in the international relations field”. During his speech, the President also highlighted the efforts of the entire CIDOB team, led by Director Pol Morillas, in adjusting quickly to the new working methods that have resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic, adapting activities to new online formats and innovating in their research products. 

The Board also approved the institution’s budget and activity programme for 2021. These include recently secured competitive research projects such as Bridges, a new Horizon 2020 project coordinated by CIDOB,and privately funded programmes such as the Future Leaders Forum, in collaboration with Banco Santander, and the Talent Global programme, with the Banco Sabadell Foundation.  

A renewal of the CIDOB Board was also agreed and new individual members were proposed. Mercè Conesa,President of the Port of Barcelona, Antón Costas,President of the Cercle d'Economia Foundation, Jacint Jordana, Director of the IBEI, Anna Terrón,Director of the FIIAPP, and Joan Manuel Tresserras, President of the Fundació Josep Irla, will join the CIDOB Board as individual members at the next Board meeting, to be held in June 2021.
