The special issue of Revista CIDOB d’Afers Internacionals, entitled “The international order: more geopolitical or more plural?”, coordinated by Pol Morillas, director of CIDOB, offers a close-up view of the current state of the paradigm shift in international relations. The monograph opens with a review of the development of this area of study over the last four decades, and goes on to explore aspects such as the crisis of democracy and of the liberal international order, the geopolitical rivalry between the United States and China, the reshaping of global value chains, the climate agenda, tech diplomacy, and the Asian outlook on the international order, as well as the concept of “planetary politics” and the influence of cities as international actors.

On June 4, 2024, CIDOB and IE-SPEGA organise a panel discussion on this issue of Revista CIDOB d’Afers Internacionals, entitled “Challenges posed by the current international situation”. On this occasion we will be welcoming Manuel Muñiz, Provost of IE University and Dean of IE School of Politics, Economics and Global Affairs; Pol Morillas, Director of CIDOB (Barcelona Centre for International Affairs); and Cristina Monge, Executive Advisor at ECODES and Sociology Professor at the University of Zaragoza. The session will be moderated by Cristina Manzano, Director of External Relations at Secretaría General Iberoamericana (SEGIB).
